AOD 2021 Regatta – at Beaulieu?

Once again, the weather was less than cooperative for the AOD regatta at Axe, programmed over the first weekend in August. Strong south westerlies prevailed with rain, so the event was cancelled; almost. The regatta has been plagued by poor weather over the years, no matter whether programmed in June, July or August. Not to be out done, the date was moved on a month and the venue moved to Gins on the Beaulieu River – joining the AOD Solent division. This time the weather was caught out – light easterlies with wall to wall sunshine – perfect.

The Royal Southampton Yacht Club hosted the fleet of six AODs. Walkabout III was commissioned for mother ship (accommodation) and a good weekend was had by all! Racing was held within the Beaulieu River in lightish conditions but sufficient for the AODs.
